The Ice Age gang re back in all their pixelated glory for a third instalment of the film franchise fun. While the other two games were generally well received by younger players, older gamers found that they left a little to be desired. Read on to discover if the third instalment manages to pack more of a punch.
The game reunites players with Ice Age characters such as Sid, Scrat, Diego and many and sends them on a whole new quest. The storyline and missions are based on the film of Ice Age 3 and this serves as a great introduction to the film for fans who haven’t watched it yet. Like the film, the game has a great sense of humour and the characters really come to life with their personalities and realistic movements.
This time, the gang takes a step away from the icy tundra and is faced with the world of the dinosaurs. The ice is exchanged for dense and steamy jungles complete with mysterious plants and deadly dinosaurs that seem to want nothing more than to feast on our heroes.
Gamers will be able to play as one of six different characters, which helps to make the game play rich and varied. Each of the characters has their own strengths and weaknesses and players will be able to utilise their skills to help them solve the different puzzles that crop up during the course of the game.
There are fifteen different levels to complete and in addition to the main missions that are lots of mini games to complete along the way. Despite the variety of content, the game does start to feel a bit repetitive after a while and gamers who are finding the tasks rather easy will probably be glad when it finally comes to an end.
Like the other games, Ice Age 3 is very easy to play and because there is only one difficulty setting it does not pose much of a challenge for older players. However, the graphics simply explode off the screen and the humorous touches combined with the ability to play the game as your favourite character makes Ice Age 3 very appealing to gamers who want to take things easy.
